Music Ministry

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”

I Peter 2:9

God created each of us to worship and enjoy Him. Through music we can worship Him and see lives changed for His glory. Some of the opportunities that we offer for musical worship are AWANA Praise, Youth Choir and Youth Praise Band, Adult Sanctuary Choir and Adult Praise Band, as well as various ensemble teams.

Worship

Our congregation represents a wide range of age groups. We have a blended worship style that allows everyone to worship to music that they can relate to. We sing hymns from the Baptist Hymnal, New Hymns, and spritual songs. A blended worship service provides a foundation of worship tradition and Gods admonition to “sing to the Lord a new song.” Members are encouraged to sing when God lays a song on their heart. The youth choir and praise band lead out in worship on most Sunday Evenings. Priority is given to the Word of God and Christ magnified.

7:00 PM—Adult Choir Rehearsal on Wednesdays

Many churches are doing away with choir and replacing them with praise teams. We believe that the choir is one of the most vital ministries at First Baptist. We have a group of folks that believe they are called to lead out in worship and this is the primary purpose of adult choir. As one of the strongest ministries in our church, we practice every Wednesday. The choir sings every week in morning worship. They usually present two musicals around Christmas and Easter. There is no try out. All those who feel called to this ministry are welcome. The choir meets in the Family Life Center Choir Suite.

4:45 PM—Youth Choir Rehearsal on Sundays

Youth learn the importance of singing in worship and leading in worship. This ministry encourages them to make sacrifices and serve the church in ministry. The goal is for them to sing in every Sunday evening worship service. In the Summer, youth attend Praise Works which is a week long worship camp that prepares tomorrows worship leaders today. Youth can sign up for many important activities that make up worship which include, singing, composing, video, sound, various instruments, conducting, etc. In January, youth come together from all over the state to practice music and present a mass concert in Little Rock Praise Works and Praise Fest are sponsored by the Arkansas Baptist State Convention. The youth choir will be heading to Panamaha City Beach to participate in Son Power. At Son Power, the youth spend the week practicing new music and recording it to be published for Lifeway Music.

6:00 PM – AWANA Praise On Wednesdays

AWANA meets during the school year. Children rotate for 30 minutes at a time. These rotations include Book Memory Time, Story Time, Recreation, and Music. In music, children learn the importance of worshiping God through song. The children practice and sing in a Christmas presentation and a Spring Musical. Children learn music through singing and through motions. Some children are able to sing solos and practice drama. AWANA Praise has proven to be a great ministry to reach parents of children who do not attend church.
